Win for me!!

Well, sometime yesterday, I watched as the PS3 that we have been using as a central hub of our Entertainment center just up and die. When I mean die, it just stopped working, refused to start and just gave me some annoying beeps and flashing lights. After returning home from my home teaching, I was able to dig up that those annoying signals were specialized codes that let me know specifically what when wrong with my system. I also found out that my PS3 warrantee had expired so repairs would either cost $150 and 5+ weeks for Sony to fix it. Or I could do it myself for some $10. I chose the latter and tore open my system and fixed it today. The issue was that the heat from nearly 2 years of frequent usage had melted the sodder under the two main chips, the CPU (Central Processing Unit) and the GPU (Graphics Processing Unit). With the help of a heat gun at nearly 750 F, I was able to soften the sodder back into proper position, and now I have an ultra quiet PS3 working again.

Oooh, happy day!
